We all know that whole, fresh fruits and vegetables should take up the most room in our shopping carts every week. They are full of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients our bodies need for energy. Those prices though!! Yikes! The off-season prices can be so high that it will drive us away from the purchase altogether. We have all heard it or said it, “I want to eat healthier, I just can’t afford it.”
Frozen fruits and vegetables are just a healthy as fresh! The manufacturers don’t have to add preservatives or additives; they just freeze it, nutrients and all. You can enjoy fresh in-season produce and inexpensive, frozen off-season produce! You always win!
Now before you get crazy in the frozen foods section, remember to check the labels! The frozen fruit or vegetable you select should not contain any other ingredient except that fruit or vegetable. You don’t want any added sugars, sauces, butters, etc.
No matter what the season, you can enjoy the taste and the health of your favorite fruits and vegetables! Except celery. Nobody enjoys celery.
