Within the name “CrossFit” there are many shapes the program can take depending on the goals of the given individual. At CrossFit MNC our members have a broad range of fitness goals all working together using one program. Some enjoy competing in the “Sport of Fitness” on the local level. Others enjoy the very popular Obstacle Races (Spartan Races, Warrior Dashes, etc) and many are here because they know the importance of a balanced fitness program to live a long healthy life. Ashea Griffin is among that group. Ashea has been a staple of the 6:00am class for over 2 years. She also holds the coveted title of Class President…complete with name tag (pictured). Ashea has been as consistent as they come, and the 6:00am class wouldn’t be the same without her!

Ashea isn’t concerned with being the strongest or the fastest. She works at her own pace unless she gets a little push from the 6:00am coach Mike Pilotte. Ashea has done a great job of progressing in a way that will be sustainable for a VERY long time. Confirmation of this approach came from her last annual check-up with her Chiropractor.

From Ashea…..

My name is Ashea Griffin I’m 41, married, and have 4 children. I have never had a problem with my weight, but I have always wanted to be in better shape. I have tried so many different things; videos, running, walking, gym memberships, etc. However, I never really committed to any of them. Two years ago in June, a friend told me about CrossFit. In August of that year, I decided to give it a try. I told myself to give it one month.

After the first class, I didn’t want to go back. I felt I would never learn the movements and it was so intimidating. Because of the time Greg took time with me, giving instruction and encouragement after the first month, I was hooked. I fell in love with it! I saw changes that I never have seen before after all those years of trying the other stuff. Everyone else saw the changes too. That was a great motivation. It works…period!

I have been seeing a Chiropractor for around 15 years. Each year the doctor gives an evaluation to check progress. This year my doctor said that I was in the best shape I have been in since I started seeing him 15 years ago! I have better range of motion and mobility than my children. Thank you Greg and Mike for all you do for us. It is because of your great training and motivation that I am in the best shape I have ever been.

To those of you reading, If you think you can’t do CrossFit, please think again. Give it a shot like I did. Our coaches will meet you where your abilities are and design a program that fits you.

This is a perfect example to all that CrossFit isn’t always what some may see on ESPN, but can indeed be a very effective form of excise for truly ANYONE no matter what your fitness goals are. We are very proud of Ashea, and thank her sharing this progress with all of us.
