I was involved in team sports from an early age. In high school, I was a 4-year starter on the varsity fastpitch softball team and continued to play travel fastpitch softball during summer months. This led to a walk-on opportunity in college, where I played fall league. However, after college and competitive softball, I entered graduate school where I abandoned most of my fitness goals to focus on school. By doing so, I found myself 100lbs heavier and extremely unhealthy. This led to my love for fitness, rather than just competing in a sport. I began to exercise, eat correctly, and lose weight, which motivated me to run 5 and 10k. After losing most of the weight I put on in graduate school, I found myself looking for other fitness options, rather than just spin and body pump classes. While training for a half-marathon with a friend, we discovered CrossFit. The rest is history they say. I have been a member of a CrossFit gym for eight years, and have had my CrossFit L1 for two years. In my journey of CrossFit, I have competed in Powerlifting, Strongman/Strongwoman, and CrossFit events, but I trying enjoy working out with all of my friends in our group fitness class.
By day, I am a Biology Professor spreading my love of science to anyone that will listen. My husband and I enjoy hiking/camping, golf, and playing with our two dogs.
